This shrine has history of 1200 years and was built in 806. The spirits of the three gods among 12 gods of the Aso Shrine are enshrined here. The shrine was designated as a national treasure in 2008. 2 minutes walk from the hotel.
A steam locomotive that JR Kyushu operates between the Kumamoto Station and the Hitoyoshi Station. It has a view lounge and buffet is served. It makes one round-trip a day during Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Holidays from March to November and during summer vacation period.
A stone-made storehouse for locomotives with triple arches. It is built in 1911 and still is used. It is designated as one of the modernized industrial heritages, and it is a popular spot for railway fans.
A railway museum built to convey the value of the Hisatsu Line with its history from the Meiji Era until this day. It has extensive booths for children such as diorama, Pla-rail, mini SL, rail bike and so on.
The temple was established in the Muromachi Period. It is also called "Yurei Temple (Ghost Temple)" as it is famous for its hanging scroll of "Yurei (ghost)". "Yurei Festival" is held every August.
The Kuma river is known as one of the three rapid streams in Japan, and going down the river started in 1910. Going down the white water by "rafting" on a rubber boat is only possible in the Kuma river in the Kyushu area.
There are 35 sacred places of Kannon selected in accordance with faith in Kannon spread within the Hitoyoshi city and Kuma districts from the middle of the Edo period. They are unveiled at once on special days such as the Higan period (the week of the equinox) in spring and autumn.
It offers guests experiences of making various handicrafts, and it also exhibits Hitoyoshi Kuma's traditional crafts and local toys. There is also a souvenir shop of local products and a park with campgrounds and playground equipment.
